Definiciones de propuestas

  • Eligible Proposals – Proposals meeting the requirements to become eligible for a grant. Eligible proposals exclude (1) proposals having an evaluation result equal to ineligible, inadmissible, duplicate or withdrawn and (2) proposals for which the evaluation results is not available (null/empty)
  • Retained Proposals – Proposals selected for funding as a result of the evaluation process or, in other words, eligible proposals whose final evaluation status = "MAIN", meaning it was shortlisted or MAINLISTED for funding
  • Eligible EU Contribution (EUR) – EU Contribution associated to eligible proposals
  • Retained EU Contribution (EUR) – EU Contribution associated to retained proposals
  • Eligible Applications – Number of organisations being part of eligible proposals. A single organisation involved in N proposals is counted N times
  • Retained Applications – Number of organisations being part of retained proposals. A single organisation involved in N proposals is counted N times
  • Oversubscription rate – It's the share of excellent proposals that did not receive funding

  • The EIC data has been updated to include the corresponding EIC proposal resubmissions (Proposal number starts with 190XXXXXX), providing a more accurate representation of the proposal success rate.
  • And we are working to match the Applicant data to the EIC Proposal resubmission.

R&I Projects

  • Figures related to grants/projects refer to signed grant agreements, including "suspended," "terminated," and "closed" grants.
  • Projects with statuses: "under preparation" and "rejected" are excluded from standard statistics.
  • The following grant types are not included in the H2020 statistics, identified by the respective types of action:
    • IPr – Inducement Prizes, RPr – Recognition Prizes, FPA – Framework Partnership Agreement, with the exception of the FPA's Specific Grant Agreements (SGA) which is implementation.

  • Total Cost – Total cost of the selected projects, covered partially by the EU contribution but also by other funding sources.
  • Signed Grants – Number of grant agreements signed, including suspended, terminated and closed grants.
  • Participation – Number of organisations involved in the selected projects. One organisation participating in N projects is counted N times.
  • Unique Participants – Number of distinct organisations involved in the selected projects. One organisation participating in N projects is only counted once.
  • Average EU Contribution – Average EU funding granted to the selected projects.
  • Average Total Cost – Average total cost of the selected projects.
  • Average Participation – Average number of participants in the selected projects.
  • SME Participation – Number of SMEs involved in the selected projects. One SME participating in N projects is counted N times.
  • SME EU Contribution – Total funding granted to SME participants.

  • Applications: Number of organisations applying for EU R&I programmes grants. One organisation applying in N proposals is counted N times.
  • Collaborative Link: A collaborative link is assumed to exist between each pair of participants in each contract.
    • The number of collaborative links created by a project is calculated in the following way:
      • (a) When there are $n$ participants from a given country in a project, the number of collaborative links between participants from the given country formed as a result of the project is assumed to be $n(n-1)/2$.
      • (b) When there are $m$ participants from one country and $p$ from another country in a project, the number of collaborative links created between the two countries as a result of the project is assumed to be $m \cdot p$.
  • EIC Participation: Participation (cf. definition below) of a legal entity in a grant agreement selected from the European Innovation Council specific calls for proposals.
  • Eligible Proposals: Proposals that have not failed at the eligibility or admissibility step of the evaluation, that have not been withdrawn, that are not duplicates nor not fully evaluated yet.
  • ERC Principal Investigators: Number of ERC (European Research Council) principal Investigators involved in host organisations from the selected country. Principal Investigators are researchers applying for an ERC grant.
  • Experts: Number of experts involved in the EU R&I programmes evaluation process.
  • MSCA Participation: Number of organisations involved in EU R&I programmes projects financed under Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions. One organisation participating in N projects is counted N times.
  • MSCA unique participants: Number of distinct organisations involved in EU R&I programmes projects financed under Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions. One organisation participating in N projects is only counted once.
  • Net EU contribution: Funding received by the project's participants after deduction of their linked third parties funding.
  • Net EU contribution to ERC PI: Funding granted to ERC principal investigators through the host organisations where they are involved.
  • Participation: The act of involvement of a legal entity in a grant agreement. A single participant can be involved in N grant agreements and therefore being counted as N participations.
  • Proposals evaluated per expert: Average number of proposals evaluated by expert.
  • Seal of Excellence: Number of applications in proposals awarded with the Seal of Excellence.
    • The Seal of Excellence is awarded to:
      • -All high quality proposals submitted to the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument, which are above the quality threshold, but cannot be funded under the available budget;
      • -MSCA-IF proposals, starting with the 2016 call, that obtained a score of 85% or more;
      • -Special COVID19 Response Seal of Excellence awarded to COVID19 relevant proposals submitted to the March 2020 EIC Accelerator cut-off which passed the thresholds, but were not funded.
      • -EIC data on SoE are under Business clarifications.
    • By default, the dashboards show only the proposals which at the moment of the data extraction appear still unfunded;
    • additionally, the data is filtered at the level of the coordinator.
  • Signed Grants: Number of grant agreements signed, including "suspended", "terminated" and "closed" grant agreements.
  • SME: Small and medium-sized enterprise. To count as an SME, the organisation must be engaged in an economic activity, it must have fewer than 250 employees and an annual turnover of no more than €50 million and/or a balance sheet of no more than €43 million.
  • SME Applications: Number of SMEs applying for EU R&I programmes grants through calls for proposals. One SME applying in N proposals is counted N times.
  • SME Requested EU Contribution: Amount of money requested by SME applicants applying to EU R&I programmes call for proposals.
  • SME Participation: Number of SMEs involved in EU R&I programmes projects. One SME participating in N projects is counted N times.
  • SME Net EU Contribution: Total funding received by SME participants after deduction of their linked third parties funding.
  • Success Rate: Ratio of the retained proposals to the total number of eligible proposals received.
    • Due the sensitive nature of this information, the success rate of an organisation is not displayed in the dashboard.
    • Instead, you will see the success rate of the region where the organisation is located.
  • The EIC data has been updated to include the corresponding EIC proposal resubmissions (Proposal number starts with 190XXXXXX), providing a more accurate representation of the proposal success rate.

Socio-economic data comes from external sources and the refresh date depends on the source system, as follows:

  • 2024: for Innovation Scoreboard, ERDF, EAFRD
  • 2024: for Population, RIA

DESI ranking: Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) is a composite index that summarises relevant indicators on Europe's digital performance and tracks the evolution of EU member states in digital competitiveness as of 2022.

Ease of Doing Business: Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 1–190. A high ease of doing business ranking means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the starting and operation of a local firm as of 2021.

EU contribution to R&I: Horizon 2020 contribution to R&I in EUR and contribution from European Structural and Investment funds (ERDF and EAFRD) to R&I in EUR.

Innovation Performance: Innovation performance of the country according to the European Innovation Scoreboard.

Knowledge-intensive employment: Percentage of employment in Knowledge Intensive activities.

Patent applications rate: Patent applications per billion GDP in current Purchasing Power Standards (PPS in EUR).

Private vs Public R&D intensity: Intramural R&D expenditure as percentage of GDP by sector of performance, meaning private (BES) versus public (GOV + HES) excluding PNP (private non-profit).

R&D intensity: Total Intramural R&D expenditure (GERD) as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP).

Researchers ratio: Researchers (FTE) per million of population.

Top cited publications rate: Percentage of scientific publications within the 10% most cited scientific publications worldwide.
